Dr. Ana Soto Awarded Grant for Breast Cancer Research from Avon Foundation for Women

Tufts University School of Medicine received a $450,000 two-year grant from the Avon Foundation for Women to fund breast cancer research. This gift will support Dr. Ana Soto’s research on the interaction between environmental chemicals and breast cells in a unique, 3D model of human cells.

TUSM received the first year’s funding amount of $225,000 on May 19th at the closing ceremony of 11th annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. The walk in Boston attracted over 1,900 participants and raised over $4 million to advance access to care and fund breast cancer prevention and treatment research. In addition to TUSM, eight other local organizations received $1.94 million in grants at the ceremony.
