We realize that preparing for medical school and strengthening your application requires more than taking science classes and doing well in them. So you can expect much more than excellent classes from our MS in Biomedical Sciences program.
The Faculty Director and a small number of dedicated Faculty Advisors will work with you to plan your program, discuss your progress, and assist if you are having difficulty. The Academic Partners serve as the student's personal pre-professional health advisor. A team of tutors will be available to offer additional support, if needed, in your science courses.
Program staff will be available to discuss concerns, both academic and non-academic. They will provide you with resources to help you plan for the MCAT, if you need to take it. Premedical workshops will be offered to ensure you are strategic in your application or re-application. And the Program Director will oversee compilation of a composite letter of recommendation and supporting letters to be sent to medical schools OR send a program letter to your undergraduate committee if you prefer to work with them. During the application cycle, timely updates of your academic progress will be sent to the medical schools to which you are applying.
Should you wish to use your MS degree to gain entrance to other educational programs or related careers, trained staff will help you consider the range of choices. We will also help you think about the advantages of attaining a public health degree (MPH) or MBA by staying at Tufts for a second year.
Although your success in gaining admission to medical school or pursuing other post-graduate options will depend heavily on your performance in your courses here, it is our mission to do all that we can to ensure that success.
